Mio Aseremo

Mio Aseremo is an emerging artist and a student based in Metro Manila, Philippines. Driven by his interest in the interactive approach, his works range from painting and drawing, and increasingly exploring videos, installation, and photography.

Mio strives to make works from his interest and curiosity in perception and experience. His art is influenced by the concerns of art relevant to society. For him, the idea and concept that art brings is a crucial means for thinking into actualizing in the world.

To quote Domencio Dom Barra: “it is about shifting the focus from the art piece to the art practice and from the artist to the community, art can influence society with its practices. We should engage in those that can help nurture human values and positive counter-narratives. It’s about acting and not about making”

For Mio art should not only be understood as an act of producing material objects. The intimacy and inspiration of his works hopes to transform the physical space it occupies but also the people it comes in contact with. It should also be the way in which individuals approach life.
